Promoting Inclusion... Expanding Possibility

8th Annual Summer Adventures Expo

We are “one-stop” for activities, camps and resources. This event pairs the families of school-aged children and young adults of all abilities with a variety of camp, leisure, and learning opportunities for summer and year-round.  Families will find local, state, and regional vendors who offer activities from science to sports, therapy to theatre, and day camp to dance class!

Summer (and other) Adventures Expo (formerly known as Summer Adventures Expo for all Kids) is in its eighth year.  We’ve grown from a camp expo, to an event that makes summer camps, year-round activities, community, transition to adult life, and equipment resources available to families in southwest Ohio.  Vendors from Butler, Clermont, Hamilton and Warren counties are represented.

Inclusion is one of our core values.  By design, not all vendors offer activities that are designed just for people with developmental disabilities.  Many Summer Adventures vendors are typical businesses that understand how to include people with developmental disabilities.   This increases the likelihood that people with developmental disabilities can participate fully with a diverse group.

Expanding possibility means more choices for families.  Vendors who understand inclusion, can successfully support people with a range of abilities.  We offer participating vendors chance to connect with a mentor, and consultation and training regarding inclusion.  We want to help develop a pool of inclusive options in the community for your family member.

For the second year we are offering vendors the opportunity to learn more about becoming waiver providers.  Increasing the number of vendors who accept waiver dollars increases the number of overall options available to for families.

“Center Stage” offers entertainment, prizes, and family fun!  While scouting resources, families are treated to scheduled performances by groups that include people of all abilities!  On the way to “center-stage” stop-by for face-painting, balloon sculpting, door prizes, and more!

Our work together is a passionate collaboration.  Four southwest Ohio counties, and nine partner organizations linked arms this year to make Summer (and other) Adventures more than just an event.  All bring a unique expertise, and a shared commitment to the success of people with developmental disabilities and their families.  Our founding Partners have continued to anchor this effort for 8 years; maintaining the vision and growing the event.

We will continue to work to deliver a quality event that provides information, options, and fun for families!
